The making of Solar Storm
During the time of making Solar Storm there was an uptick in sunspots and solar flares and this piece is my interpretation of this phenomenon.
I looked for a way to express the vastness and openness of space. I played with the idea of not hiding the elements the installation is composed of to bring the observer closer into it.
When viewed from several feet away then up close, the viewer’s perception evolves and the elements either come together or drift apart.
Solar Storm is composed of two individually staged and photographed installations printed together on one single sheet of paper. I used a painted backdrop, orange string, black string, paint, and plaster.
